Meet the Board Members

Mariam Sylla, MPH

Founder and Development Coordinator

Mariam (She/Her) is the founder of the Helping Hands Project. She is an MPH graduate with a concentration in Social and Behavioral Sciences and a focus in Global Maternal and Child Health, from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

Mariam is currently a Population Health Service Fellow with the University of Wisconsin (UW) Population Health Institute as well as the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. She is placed at  Public Health Madison and Dane County where she works in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) & Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR)  in Wisconsin.

Mariam is a Social Justice and Human Rights advocate who seizes every opportunity to serve communities and expands her knowledge. She is passionate  about the Social and Behavioral Sciences to improve the population health and well-being by addressing health inequities and disparities. Her interests include Global Maternal and Child Health, Immigrants Health in the U.S, Neurodevelopment Disabilities and improving the Health and Well-being of Mothers and Children in Africa.

Aissatou Sylla, MSc

Communication and Project Coordinator

Aissatou, graduated with an MSc in Biotechnologies and Management with a concentration in Quality and Bioproduction at Ionis-STM Ivry-sur-Seine (Paris, France)

Aissatou is a Quality Assurance Distribution Assistant in a pharmaceutical industry that offers a range of medical imaging products and solutions services for Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology and Women's Health. 

Aissatou's work consists of customer complaints, management of non-conformities. She would like to become a quality assurance manager in the long run.

Aissatou dedicated her self to helping others. She has participated in several school humanitarian projects such as: the fight against HIV-AIDS in collaboration with SIDACTION France.

Aissatou is the co-founder of the EndoGuinée, an organization that fights against endometriosis and period poverty. Taking action for the HH project is a great pleasure to allow her to broaden and acquire experiences and her love for others. Her goal is to help people  thrive in their communities. 

Aminata Sylla, MBA

Financial Coordinator

Ami graduated with B.S in Finance and International Studies from Indiana Kelley School of Business and an MBA with a concentration in Project Management from the University of Southern Indiana.

Ami is currently working as a Personal Banker/ Financial Advisor for Fifth Third Bank in Indianapolis, focusing on customer service and asset management for each of her clients, to help them reach their short and long terms financial goals while providing them with opportunities to build a safe, secure and affordable financial future through trusted advice.

Ami aspires to be a Financial Analyst by building her own client portfolio and helping manage their money, build capital by investing in different opportunities for a healthier financial future. Her passion in helping others and making the world a better place led her to serving underserved communities through Helping Hands. Her goal is to use her academic achievements, work and personal life experience to expand the H.H project, by working with communities and the H.H team to raise more funds and items for underserved communities.

Ibrahima Kalil Fofana, BSc

HR and Logistics Coordinator in Guinea

Fofana Ibrahima Kalil's has a BSc in Human Resources Management from the University of Kofi Annan, equipping him with essential skills in managing people and understanding organizational dynamics.

Within the public sector, Fofana serves as a Research Officer at Guinea's Directorate-General for the Control of Public Procurement, where his meticulous analysis contributes to the enhancement of transparency and efficiency in the utilization of public funds, underscoring his commitment to upholding regulations.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Fofana's passion for basketball shines as he actively participates in the Guinee National Team, showcasing not only his athletic prowess but also his collaborative and leadership abilities on the court. His dedication extends further, as he channels his compassion into community involvement, particularly focused on improving the lives of children.
